Departmental Honors Project Submissions

After your committee has given their approval of your final project, you will use this website to submit a PDF version of your final paper, along with any supplemental files (optional). You should submit your project only after your committee has approved it.

Your paper will be saved in the TCU Library's digital repository, and a link to your paper will be added to the library catalog. Please note that by default, honors papers in the repository are freely available, or become freely available at the end of any embargo period specified in your submission.

You may wish to embargo your project for various reasons.

Definition: An embargo of a thesis is defined as a delay in the release of the [thesis] for a specified amount of time.

[An embargo may be appropriate] under the following conditions:

  • To protect information of commercial value.
  • To protect a patent application.
  • To protect intellectual property rights associated with publication of content.
  • To honor a pre-existing contractual agreement.
  • To protect individual rights to privacy because of the thesis subject or when cultural respect is being infringed.

During the submission process, you will have the option of specifying no embargo, an embargo period of two years, or an indefinite embargo. An indefinite embargo means that your project will never be accessible to the public unless you contact the TCU Library and request that the embargo be removed.

The TCU Library strongly recommends that you embed all fonts in creating your PDF file. This process helps ensure that your paper will remain accessible through future versions of PDF software.

If you are using Microsoft Word® to create your PDF file, the easiest way to embed fonts is to save your file in PDF/A format using the "Options" box in the "Save As" dialog.

If you submit a PDF file that does not have fonts embedded, the upload form will display a warning message.
